In memory of Berry...

Berry aka Lizzy just left us today at about 12.30pm... Sigh...

She has been diagnosed with liver disease and she's finally gone after battling with the disease for a few months. Poor little girl. She was all skin and bones cos her body couldn't absorb the nutrients from the food and she was having diarrohea. Last week when she was warded, she gave us some hope that the herbs her owner has been feeding her was working cos she gained weight and blood tests came back with low levels of liver enzymes! I was hopeful!

But on Thursday night, I received a call saying that she wasn't her usual self. She seemed to have injured herself. Last night, she wasn't good and this morning, before her owner could bring her in, she left us...

For the little girl who has fought so hard, farewell to you... I know you are healthy and happy again with my Ollie at the Rainbow Bridge where you will no longer suffer... Ollie, you must take care of this precious girl for me, okay? I know you would do it for me... :) My precious Ollie...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,
so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

This is Berry with her big brother at a few weeks old...

Berry and her sis, Lovely, at 4 months... The one on the left is Berry...

Berry aka Lizzy... during the happier days when she was younger...

Berry... as an adult...

We will all miss you dearly...

More pictures of HK!

Wanted to upload more pics of HK the other time but couldn't cos there was something wrong with my mouse. Just bought a new one so here I am!

Went to Ocean Park. Everyone was raving about it so I had to go but I was totally disappointed. I didn't like the place at all cos there were so many people and they were pushing you like crazy!

The dolphins were cute but the show was boring. I had to listen to a long, long story and I got lost in the story cos it was just... too long!

Wanted to see the panda but the only way there was by cable car. I waited more than 30minutes for it and by the time I was there, the observatory was closed! ARGH! So I bought a beanie panda to console myself. Roger look-alike.

Percentage in which they lookalike... 85%!

Hahaha... Anyway, this is the night scene in 中环. I took this while waiting for the bus to take me to the Peak tram.

Couldn't help it.. Just too impressed with the Mickey Mouse windows!

If the trains are not underground, they have barriers and doors which only open when the trains arrive. Safer this way. Think Singapore is doing this soon. In this way, we will...
a) stop suicidal people from throwing themselves off the track
b) prevent jealous bf/gf from pushing their astray gf/bf off the track

A funny rabbit picture educating people not to push in the MTR...

Their version of NY Times Square... HK Style...

I was impressed with this plastic bag machine for wet brollies. You just have to shove it in and pull and voila! The wet umbrella is in the plastic bag. They even have one for shorter umbrellas! How cool can you get!!

My new bag...

bought from the biggest LV store in Asia!
Last but not least, notice anything wrong with the menu above? I didn't even realise it until my friend asked me nonchalantly," Aei, want to eat snake anot?"
Hahahaha... I was so tickled after that! :)
Anyway, had a great time there. Can't wait for my next getaway!

Back from HK!

Shopping

Yup... I am back from HK! What a trip... Let me show you some pictures of HK!

That's a little pooch I saw on the streets of HK. Very cute... :)

An ad I saw on the train... It's about caring for animals. From the SPCA in HK, I guess...

This is the handrail in the form of Mickey Mouse's head in the train to Disneyland! Wow... nice huh?

And the train came in Mickey Mouse windows... I went absolutely crazy! Haha...

The MTR... aka MRT in Singapore... is longer and faster than the one in Singapore. It's more complicated and the stations are connected somehow. Takes some getting used to... But at the top of it, it shows you where you are heading. The light blinks to show you where you are headed for... cool technology!

Dessert at 许留香。Nice dessert. It's full of watermelon! Nice to eat on a hot day!
This is their Mango Platter. I was eating mango almost everyday!

Roasted pork rice... from a 茶餐厅. Not too bad!

This is the roasted goose rice.. Yummy too! :)

Another toufu dessert from 糖朝. Love it cos it's smooth and sweet...

Their mango dessert with toufu below...

A Coach store at 兰桂坊. I like the lights and the brand all over the store.

This is an ad near 兰桂坊. Thought that the faces made it look unique.

I was staying at Kowloon. So from where I was, I could see Hong Kong Island.

This is outside 女人街. You wouldn't be able to tell what time it was when I took the pic. It was 12am at night and there were still many people walking around!

This is outside 中环 MTR, near Exchange Square. It was a Sunday and for a moment, I thought I was outside Lucky Plaza. Yup.. you guessed it. The place where the Filipino maids congregate for their weekly outings.

This was just outside the hotel room. Yes... my room was overlooking a few blocks of residential apartments! They were really old...

I bought quite a lot of stuff too. Too lazy to show it here. If I am free, I will do it. I went to the biggest LV shop in Asia! Hahaha... nice... so of course I rewarded myself with a bag. Will show in the next post. Something's wrong with my mouse...
Feelings about HK...
It's a great place for a night owl like me. The city never sleeps! You can find people selling curry fishballs at 3am in the morning! Unbelieveable huh? Some shops even close at 12am at night! I was out loitering every night looking for food and shopping! HK people work really hard.
It's not a nice place to live in. Unlike Raffles Place and Shenton Way where it's totally dead at night and on weekends, HK's business district like 湾仔,中环,尖沙咀 have office buildings and residential blocks just next to each other and they are always bustling with activtiy! The buildings are built so close to each other that sometimes, I find myself feeling suffocated. Sometimes, when you walk along the shops, the water from the roof will drip on your head and I get irritated with that. I have learnt to avoid the wet patches I see on the ground cos that's where the water drips.
On the whole, the food is good. The mango desserts, roasted meats, egg tarts and curry fishballs... I had them almost everyday!
Anyway, the trip was nice cos I bought a lot of stuff there too!
Looking forward to the next trip!

Some updates!

Finally! It's the hols again... so with a bit more time on my hands, it's time to blog!

Gracie and Roger now enjoy watching TV with me. They would sit by the wall and I would sit on the floor and scratch their ears and forehead. They love every minute of it!

But when they go back, Creme gets really jealous and poops everywhere! How I wish they are gold nuggets instead! :(

And Roger still has the mood to sleep like a PIG!! One paw in the air, eyes closed.. oblivious to the surroundings! What a bunny!

A bird flew into the staff room the other day. It was so tiny and cute! Judy and I couldn't find it anywhere and it was sitting on Gail's workstation, sitting right before us! We cooed and aww-ed at it for the longest time when we saw it!

Some sad news to share...

Remember the Fab 4?I rescued their parents almost 5 years ago. They were being abandoned in a rubbish chute in a plastic bag. So cruel! Anyway, mummy was pregnant and she gave birth to 4 cute little babies a few days later and the rest is history.

Recently, my friend who adopted one of the girls, Berry aka Lizzy, called me saying that Berry was having diarrohea. I advised her to send her to the vet. That led to a series of tests and vet visits. The reports weren't good. She was diagnosed as having liver cirossis which left her only 3 more months to live. Sigh... She's a fighter so my friend and I are not giving up on her. We will try to see if we can make her comfortable and happy during her remaining days.

If you have any experience with bunnies suffering from liver cirossis, please share your experience with me. Time's running out for the little one... pray that she will be happy for the remaining days here...
